How We Started
51 Labs was founded by Jordan and Jing, a dynamic couple with backgrounds in banking and M&A law. Their demanding careers often kept them apart, and they longed to build something together.
Their entrepreneurial journey was driven by a shared vision – to achieve ultimate time freedom. During a pivotal moment in their lives in 2016, with Jing pregnant with their first child, they decided to pursue their dream despite the challenges. They faced financial pressures head-on, with Jing’s single income and a newborn, but they persisted. They downsized the apartment to a 410 sqft studio, and sought help from both parents for childcare and financial support.
With two unsuccessful attempts in two different business ideas, in late 2018, Jordan finally secured 51 Labs’ first client. Jing stopped moonlighting and joined 51 Labs full-time in 2020. Since that moment, 51 Labs has grown into a thriving business, built on a foundation of partnership, resilience, and a drive for excellence. Today, 51 Labs stands as a testament to their dedication and entrepreneurial spirit.
Giving Back
We’re passionate about more than just our craft. Jordan and Jing co-founded 51 Vets, a nonprofit dedicated to connecting transitioning and transitioned veterans from elite military communities with leading business professionals. Our founders have helped place 200+ veterans in jobs and have spent 2,000+ hours volunteering with the organization.
Jordan and Jing are also heavily involved with The Kyle Pease Foundation, where they have been creating awareness and raising funds to promote success for persons with disabilities by assisting them to meet their individual needs through sports.
Each year, 51 Labs hosts the Charity Endurance Challenge among their clients where the goal is for teams to commit to difficult physical challenges and to donate to 51 Vets and other charities. This event connects finance professionals with transitioning veterans in a fun and collaborative way.
