Firms will drop $5K–10K+ to attend a big event like DealMax for marketing and business development, but they hesitate to post regularly on LinkedIn to help build the firm’s brand. Somehow, posting once a month feels harder than closing a deal at the 10-yard line.
Posting on LinkedIn supports the same goals as event marketing
- Be known
- Stay top of mind
- Build trust
Why now? Because LinkedIn is still a rare opportunity. You can get thousands of relevant eyes on your brand—for free. Think about other social media platforms like Instagram or X. There’s no way you’d get the same reach without paying because of how mature they are. You’d have to spend thousands a month to get the same level of visibility.
Those who get in early on LinkedIn and in their market (M&A, PE, IB, etc.) will have the most network effects as the platform matures and content becomes saturated.

How to Grow Your Firm’s LinkedIn Presence
- Be consistent — start with once a week, then scale up. Firms that post regularly stay top of mind.
- Do not overthink the content. Be educational, entertaining, and on brand. Yes, be compliant, but don’t take four weeks and five people to produce a simple team announcement or year-in-review post.
- Ask your team to like, comment, and repost company page posts within the first hour of posting. Early traction tells LinkedIn your content is valuable, boosting reach by 5–10x.
- Tag the right people. Founders or execs who are relevant to the conversation. Thoughtful tagging boosts visibility and increases the chances of reposts. Do not tag everyone you can think of—only those likely to engage. Over-tagging can hurt your reach if the algorithm sees it as spammy.
- Cross-promote your LinkedIn in newsletters, podcasts, and any other content you put out. Easy. Free. More eyeballs.
- Pin high-performing posts to the top of your page. Visitors see your strongest content first, making them more likely to follow.
- Invite contacts to follow the page.
